Anise scented, flat-topped flower heads with yellow rays & a brown center disk sit on top tall upright stems. This native can get very tall reaching 7-9ft in optimum growing conditions.

To control height, plants can be trimmed back in early spring.

Blooms in full sun Aug-Oct providing late season nectar for pollinators.

Grows in a wide range of soils. Prefers medium to moist well-drained soil, but is tolerant to well-drained clay & can thrive in dry, rocky soil.

May spread quickly. Spreads by rhizome roots & self-seeding.

Seed heads provide a food source for birds in the fall.

Deer & rabbit resistant.
