Named for it's vertical reddish-brown fruiting spikes which emerge from it's center in early spring

persisting long after spores are shed

Unlike some large ferns, cinnamon ferns do not spread rapidly by rhizones

Prefers moist soil, including clay, loam, & sand

Known to grow up to 5ft tall in optimum growing conditions,

plants will adapt with a shorter height in average soil
