Requires well-drained sandy, loam soil. Large tap root makes it drought tolerant once established. Nitrogen fixing plant. Tolerant to rocky & poor soil.
Slow growing. Takes 2-3 yrs to mature, reaching 2-5 ft tall & 3 ft wide.
Attracts hummingbirds, bees, & is the host plant for the Spring Azure & Summer Azure butterflies. Blooms in full to partial sun
